About John

I am a multi-woodwind performer, composer, arranger and educator living and working in New York City. I am currently on tour across the US and Canada playing woodwinds for the hit Broadway show "Memphis"
When not gigging, I spend my free time trying to figure out how to build a better mousetrap for my EWI using Logic.More on the About page.

Always fresh sounding these can form the basis for new compositions, or for just exploring new sounds and textures for writing, orchestration or live performance.

What they’re saying about Harmonic Xpander:
I find EWILogic’s Harmonic Xpander to be a wonderful tool for both improvisation and composition within Apple Logic. Although it has many features tailored for the Akai EWI wind controller, it’s no less fascinating when played with a MIDI keyboard or other controller. For instant gratification as well as in-depth tweakability, Harmonic Xpander deserves a serious look. – Len Sasso, musician, composer, author, Logic expert (www.swiftkick.com)
I’ve been looking for years for a plug-in that would enable Logic to emulate the Rotation effect of the Oberheim Xpander. Who wants to lug that 5 foot beast around – amazing as it is? At last Isley has stepped up to the plate and implemented everything that the Xpander could do in this respect and much much more. This is a killer app and will turn a lot of ears. I can’t wait to hear what creative players and writers will be able to accomplish with it. – Bruce Cassidy, Trumpet and EVI pioneer (www.brucecassidymusic.com)
Easy install, easy to use and with a clear, concise manual with plenty of examples and pics, I had John Isley’s Harmonic Rotator programmed to do what I want within 3 minutes of loading it into the environment. I can only imagine the hours Mike Brecker spent with his Oberheim Xpander– and later in the Logic Environment– experimenting with the various timbral and harmonic colors he could get from a setup like this. In a way, thanks to John Isley’s excellent programming, I feel like I’m privileged to go down a road that very few have gotten to walk. – Dan Perez, Saxophonist and EWI artist (www.danperezsax.com)
